WHEN GOD CONTROLS THE BULLET
Psalm 91:3-8
Surely he will save you
from the fowler’s snare
and from the deadly pestilence.
He will cover you with his feathers,
and under his wings you will find refuge;
his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.
You will not fear the terror of night,
nor the arrow that flies by day,
nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness,
nor the plague that destroys at midday.
A thousand may fall at your side,
ten thousand at your right hand,
but it will not come near you.
You will only observe with your eyes
and see the punishment of the wicked.
If there is one thing my soul took comfort from, in the last 10 days, it is that the Lord God Almighty is fully in charge of every life, every situation, every crisis and every weapon. He is the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. He will not be outdone, or undone by any scheme of the enemy.
The entire world paused in the days after the attempted assassination of the former President of the United States, Donald J. Trump, and a moment of awe was visible on the faces of Democrat and Republican alike. Only God could have stopped the violence of evil intentions at 6:11 pm on a day that should have ended differently. Eight murderous bullets were allegedly fired by the bad guy, before the supposed good guys took one shot to neutralize him. Something seems very wrong, doesn’t it? After the shockingly inept testimony of the now former Director of the Secret Service, Kimberly Cheatle, we are all left with more questions than answers. One thing is for sure, God knows exactly what is going on, and He will reveal it in due course. We pray that every deception and evil intention which lurks behind the mystifying facts in this case will eventually expose every villainous actor involved. When God controls the “arrow by day” and in this case the “bullet by day”, you can rest assured that we are in good hands. He has us hemmed in, before and behind. Could you have stopped that bullet? No, none of us could, but God gave us an unprecedented glimpse into what he’s actually capable of: a modern day miracle.
The Lord gave us a gift, in that as we saw His epic warrior skills on display before the whole world, we can know that if His eye is on the sparrow, if He can calm the storm, if He can steer the bullet, then He surely watches over us.
This entire situation ought to give us pause to consider that we do not need to have anxiety, worry or fret over tomorrow. It should calm every soul to know that the only one truly in charge is God and that is the best possible news for each of us. Be still and know that He is God.
