The left is trying to manipulate the CPC into supporting online censorship
When the 'hidden hashtag' scandal first emerged, it was obvious that the short term goal was to distract from Liberal failures and put the Conservatives on the defensive.
And now, a further goal has been revealed.
In a National Observer article, a writer for the left-wing publication is demanding that Pierre Poilievre and the CPC support the Liberal 'online harms' legislation.
That legislation would give the government more power over social media, would restrict the bounds of free speech, and would push Canada further towards the kind of state-run censorship we see in authoritarian states.
This is thus the long-term goal of the effort to turn the obscure tag into a 'scandal.'
They want to pile pressure on the Conservatives in order to push them into supporting Trudeau's anti-free speech agenda.
That would make Trudeau and the media happy, but it would be bad news for the rest of us who value free speech.
Clearly, the battle for free speech is about persuasion, and I am doing everything I can to ensure that there is a balanced and truthful perspective offered to counter the manipulation from the Liberal government and their bought-off media.............Spencer Fernando
