A week ago, I was hopeful that we are exiting the Pandemic. Today, Ontario is back in Stage 2, kids are out of school, surgeries are being cancelled and businesses are decimated. To be clear, our hospital capacity is at risk, not due to Omicron but Government and Public Health mismanagement. We have always had hallway healthcare during this time of the year, but this time it is made worse by government.
Instead of hiring more staff, hospitals suspended or terminated healthy workers who made a different medical choice. Thousands of hospital workers are sitting at home because of Public Health isolation protocols. Doug Ford’s Bill 124 caps nurses’ pay increase to 1% per year, effectively giving them a 4% inflation cut. But Doug will never admit mistake. Instead, he asks “folks to bear with him” as he decimates our Province and ruins the mental health of our children. Given that children are statistically at zero risk, there is no excuse to continue with the longest (compounded) school closure in the world.
I am very troubled by the hateful language of the Prime Minister. No Canadian should be afraid for their safety from their own Government. Justin Trudeau’s language is unacceptable and I assure you that hateful language will not divide millions of Canadians, regardless of their medical choice.
Many of you want to know what to do next. While I am yet to be sure what form our effort will take, we must begin to organize. There is strength in numbers, and I am certain that a well-functioning team of a few million Ontarians can help us bring a political end to present nightmare.
You can help us in one or more of the following ways:
Identify more supporters by having them join us at JoinRoman.ca. Forward this email to your entire network to make sure that we are in contact with your family, friends and co-workers;
We are looking to recruit Ontarians with political campaign and communications experience, to help our advocacy efforts. If you are a communications professional or ever worked or volunteered on a political campaign, please send us an email to [email protected]
Help us raise funds to take our advocacy campaign to the next level on media and social media, by donating to the Roman Baber Constituency Association. All our spending is audited and every donation enjoys a 50-75% tax credit. We need a considerable amount of money.
I cannot tell you what the future holds. But I assure you that there are millions of Ontarians, dedicated to ending Doug Ford’s draconian measures and Public Health overreach. Myself and hundreds of people that work with me are committed to a brighter day in Ontario.
Stay strong and get involved.
Yours very truly,
Roman Baber
